October 27, 2019 Sermon – Reformation Sunday

Announcements ~ October 27, 2019

A:     Blessed be the name of the LORD, from this time on and forevermore

C:     From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised.

*Blessings to all this Reformation Sunday and a special welcome to all guests visiting with us today. It is a joy to be in God’s presence and worship together as we are Moving Forward Together in Purpose.

*The Giving Tree is up in the lobby! We are collecting food for our annual Christmas food baskets. Please take a tag or two and bring the items back to church by November 24. The food baskets help the families of the children who received our Micah’s Backpacks.

*Our Annual Trunk or Treat is scheduled TODAY from 6-7pm. Cars are asked to arrive at 5:30pm to park and prepare to hand out their goodies. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is looking uncertain. We will call all who have volunteered by 4 pm IF we plan to cancel. We will post the cancellation on the digital sign, too. Let’s hope for clearer skies.

*Next Sunday we will celebrate All Saints Sunday. If a loved one of yours has died since last November 1st, 2018, please put his or her name on the attendance form today. We would like to include them in our special All Saints Sunday prayers. Come next Sunday ready to lift up to the Lord all those who have poured love into our lives, families and world.

*We will be serving lunch for some of the residence at Potomac Towers this Thursday and the REACH Cold Weather Shelter on November 9th. We could still use some food donations and volunteers. Please check the sign-up sheets at Sign-up Central in the church lobby. God’s Work. Our Hands.

*To maintain this property God has given us AND to keep down our costs, Haven needs your help at the Fall Clean up  days on November 9th and 16th, from 9am – noon. There are a variety of tasks for a variety of abilities. Any time or effort you can give will help. As we conclude at noon, we will share a prayer and snacks. See the bulletin for more information.

*Today Valerie Wills will lead our Adult Bible Study Class in a monthly look at the Religions of our world neighbors. Today, get a glimpse into Shintoism. You are never too old to learn!

This week’s concerns and joys:

*Best wishes to Beth Johns, Diane Barnhart, and Meredith Reynolds who celebrate birthdays this week.

A; Now we prepare ourselves to worship as we listen to the Prelude.
