Announcements ~ May 15, 2022

A:      This is the day the Lord has made        C:     Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

God’s blessings to you this Easter Season. Welcome to Music Sunday, a celebration of God’s gift of music in our worship life. Special welcome to any guests visiting with us in person or on-line. It is a delight to worship together.

*The adult Sunday School class will meet this morning at 11:00 am. Today Pastor Kaplan will lead the class through the ELCA’s 1991 social statement on abortion. What is a Lutheran perspective on this controversial topic? Grab your coffee and treats and come join the discussion. All are welcome

*Red geranium orders for Pentecost are due next Sunday, May 22. Order envelopes are available in the narthex and on the parsonage back porch. You can also make an order by contacting the church office.

*Pentecost is on June 5th and weather-permitting, we will be celebrating worship and
the completion of a Sunday School year outdoors that day. We our planning some  surprises for this special time of worship, fellowship and refreshments. Be sure to bring your lawn chair! It’s a good day to invite a friend or neighbor!

*The Worship Team is trying to discover if there is an active interest in having a Saturday, 5:00 pm worship service during the summer. Please check your response on the attendance form today.

This week’s concerns and joys:

* Recently, Jim Conrad and Don Evason have had some trips to the hospital. Please keep them in prayer.

*We thank Steve Pastena for all his efforts to bring together musicians and vocalist for today’s Music Sunday worship service. We will also be singing hymns that make it to the top of our Favorite Hymn survey. We’ll publish the whole list in  the June newsletter. Hymns not sung today will be used in worship this May and summer.

*Thanks to Ed Distad, Nancy Newkirk and Pastor Alessandri for being Haven’s delegates at this year’s DE-MD Synod Assembly, where current Delaware-Maryland Synod Bishop, Bill Gohl was re-elected on the first ballot, receiving 341 of the 361 votes cast.

*Best wishes to Morgan Haupt, Emily Butsch, Ohna Baker, Ed Yelinek and Millie Strange who celebrate birthdays this week.
