Announcements ~ October 28, 2018

A: Seek God’s kingdom first.      C: for God knows all that we need.

God’s peace to all on this Reformation Sunday. A special welcome to all guests visiting with us today. Your presence is truly a blessing.

* Pastor Alessandri is back from vacation to preside at worship AND we have the pleasure of having Pastor Chris Ramsey as our guest preacher this Reformation Sunday. Be sure to add your own words of thanks to Pastor Ramsey after worship and in coffee fellowship.

*Today there will be a special congregational meeting immediately after worship to vote on a motion from the Property Team to replace lighting fixtures. The motion and rationale can be found on the white-colored insert in your bulletin. Please stay so we can have a quorum.

*Tonight is Haven’s annual Trunk or Treat from 6 to 7 p.m. We have 12 cars so far. Can we make it to 18? Bundle up, bring a chair to sit in and some treats to hand out to children. This is one way Haven can extend the church beyond these walls. Come around 5:30 and stay until 7 pm. You WILL have fun! Sign up on the easel in the narthex or just show up! IF it dares to rain at 6 pm, the event will be cancelled.

*We’ve had a great response to the collection of food for our Christmas food baskets. Let’s keep it up! Pick a tag or two from the tree in the narthex, buy the items & bring them back to Haven. We’ll keep adding tags until our collection of foods is complete. Thanks for your help.

*Next Sunday, November 4th is All Saints Day. Be sure to write on the attendance form the name of any loved one who has died since last All Saints Day. Gather pictures of your deceased loved ones to bring to church for displayed during our All Saints celebration. Let’s surround ourselves in the memory and love of those departed saints who contributed so much to our lives.

*In your bulletin today, you will find a cream-colored insert with important information about Haven’s current finances. To help us understand the challenges, our Finance Team will provide a special presentation next Sunday, November 4th during the Sunday School hour. We will move coffee fellowship to the Gathering Room that day and stay there for this important meeting. Please read the bulletin insert & make plans to attend. YOUR attendance, attention and thoughts are needed as our community considers Haven’s financial plans for ministry.

*Wednesday, November 7th at 11:30 am will be the first gathering of Haven’s new lunch-time fellowship that we are calling, Café De Haven. This month it will meet at B.J.’s Restaurant and Brew House located at the old Sear’s Tire Store near the Valley Mall.  Everyone is invited to attend, both couples and singles. In order to make reservations, please let us know you will attend by signing up at the Sign-up Central bulletin board in the narthex.

*We are looking for the names of Haven veterans and the names of your family members who have served in the military or are currently serving in the military. We’d like to include all of them in special Veteran’s Day remembrance on September 11th. Forms can be found at the Sign-up Central bulletin board. Please turn them in by next Sunday. If you have questions, speak to Craig Meredith.

*November 19th is Haven’s night to serve at the REACH Cold Weather shelter. We need both food and volunteers. See how you can help at the Sign-Up Central Bulletin board. God’s Work. Our Hands.

This week’s concerns and joys:

*Best wishes to Elizabeth Johns, Diane Barnhart and Meredith Reynolds who celebrate birthdays this week.
