April 25, 2021 Sermon by Father Michael Renninger

Announcements ~ April 25, 2021

A:      This is the day the Lord has made.

C:      Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

*A most blessed and happy Easter season to all. A special welcome to guests who are worshipping at Haven for the first time and those who have returned. Your presence enriches us and our time of celebration together

*We’ve come to understand that there is some confusion about the Faith Building Together Giving Cards that we had hoped to bless today. The giving card is intended to provide a way for members and friends of Haven to participate in our efforts to pay off a $100,000 loan for our renovation project. Please write down on the giving card what you hope to contribute in addition to your usually offering to help retire this loan.
IF, you are not comfortable making any commitment at this time, PLEASE still return the card and simply write, “Contribute as able.” That IS your contribution and it is important.
IF you have misplaced or did not receive a Giving Card, there are now cards in the church lobby or parsonage back porch that you may pick up.
Whether you can contribute regularly or as you are able, PLEASE return your giving card because we are all in this together and together we will meet the challenge.

*Next Sunday, May 2nd, there will be a meeting after worship to begin planning for September’s Adult Sunday School. Follow the signs down the hall by the church office to find the meeting. We will be wearing masks and honoring social distancing. After the meeting, all are invited to go out to lunch at Tony’s on Pennsylvania Avenue. More details are in the bulletin. All are welcome.

*Believe it or not, it’s time to order geraniums for Pentecost Sunday. Information is in the bulletin and envelopes are available in the narthex and parsonage back porch.

*IF you need a ride to get your COVID vaccination, Pastor Kaplan is offering transport. His phone number is in today’s bulletin. Thank you Pastor Dave for the generous offer.

*Copies of May newsletters are available in the church lobby and the parsonage back porch.

This week’s concerns and joys:

*We offer our condolences to the families of our dear Haven member, Bill Plavcan, the former DE-MD Synod Bishop, George Mocko who both joined the church triumphant last week. We lift up the family and community of Smithburg High student, Aiden Alexander, who committed suicide last week. Please keep all who mourn Bill, George and Aiden in your prayers.

*Best wishes to Anna Bergschneider, Ed Distad, Bill Byers, and Tanner Creek who celebrate birthdays this week.

                                                  (after the announcements)

A: We now prepare for worship as we listen to the prelude.
