August 1, 2021 Rededication & Blessing of roof, steeple and ac unit (pdf)

Announcements ~ August 1, 2021

A:       I was glad when they said to me, C:  “Let us go to the house of the Lord.        (Psalm 122:1)

* What a blessing it is to be together in God’s presence to worship. A special welcome to all as we celebrate the rededication of our church and the blessing of our new roof, steeple and air conditioner. Pastor Alessandri would like to offer greetings to some special guests who have joined us here this morning. Pastor Alessandri….

(after Pastor Alessandri speaks)

*There has been a great response to our annual Community School Supply Outreach project. There are only a few tags of needed items left on the bulletin board. Could you take one or two of the remaining tags?  Please bring the supplies back to Haven or the parsonage porch no later than next Sunday, August 8th. Monetary donations are always welcome to pay for supplies we are ordering in bulk. Thank you. God’s work. Our hands!

*Next Sunday, Pastor Alessandri will continue to lead an Adult Sunday School series in the Gathering Room. Come join the discussion on “Thriving After Covid.” Even if you have not attended any other session, you WILL be able to fully participate. In good Lutheran tradition, there will be coffee and goodies provided as we enjoy fellowship and God’s Word.

*Check out the Harvest for Hunger table in the church lobby.

*The Bach Festival Concert, postponed from March 2020, will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 14th at 4 PM. Our organist, Steve Pastena, will be performing the thrilling Fantasia in G Major. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is light, so you are welcome to come as you are, and even bring a book or knitting!

*It’s easy and it is a blessing to our worshipping community — We’re talking about ushering. We still need a few more volunteers so each person only has to serve once a month. PLEASE sign up on your attendance sheet today!

This week’s concerns and joys:

*Thanks to all who contributed food, packed lunches and delivered them to at Potomac Towers. Our brothers and sisters at Potomac Towers enjoyed a delicious lunch thanks to you.

*Best wishes to Lesley Newkirk-Lightfoot who celebrates a birthday this week and to Bill and Lynda Byers and Ann and Jim Conrad who have wedding anniversaries this week.

 (after the prelude)

A:      Rejoicing in God’s saving grace, we seek our Lord’s wisdom and strength:
C:      “To honor God, to reach out with love to our members and the community and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
