December 5, 2021 Second Sunday of Advent

Announcements ~ December 5, 2021

A:       Those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength,
C:        They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
A:        They shall run and not be weary,
C:        They shall walk and not faint.                       Isaiah 40: 31
*God’s blessing to all this Second Sunday of Advent with a special welcome to our guests. It is a blessing to worship our Lord during this holy season.

*PLEASE help us get the word out! Haven’s Christmas Concert is Back! This Saturday, December 11th at 5:00 pm you can come hear wonderful holiday music featuring the St. James Brass and Haven’s own choir. Please come and bring a friend.

*Great news! All the tags with needed food items are gone from the Giving Tree. Way to go Haven! Please bring all items to church by December 19th. There will be ten Fountaindale families blessed this Christmas by your generosity.

*Now, we need some help gathering food for our Potomac Towers luncheon this month. You will find a list of needed items on the SIGN-UP bulletin board in the narthex. Sign up to get what you can and bring it to church by December 19th. The forty Potomac Tower residents who will receive these hardy lunches will be grateful.

*We still have FOUR winning raffle tickets whose owners have not identified themselves. If you bought tickets and didn’t put names on the tickets put in the collection tub, PLEASE check you stubs against the numbers posted on the mobile board AND sent out last week in emails and Haven’s E-message. If we don’t hear from you by next Sunday, we will continue down the list of tickets drawn. We thank everyone who join the fun. We raise about $400 for the roof fund.

*We continue to collect new or all-most new winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves and socks of all sizes for Afghan refugees being assisted by the Catholic Charities Immigration Refugees Service in Harrisburg. These are families of the Afghan allies who assisted American forces in Afghanistan until the U.S. withdrew on August 30th.
There are designated places in both coatrooms in the church narthex where you can leave new or almost new coats, hats, gloves and scarves for men, women and children and socks of all sizes. “When you did it for the least of these, you did it for me,” Jesus said. Thank you.

*There are still Advent devotional materials available in the narthex. There are booklets for adults, teens and children. Each day, spend a few minutes in God’s word to stay grounded in this busy season.

 This week’s concerns and joys

*Best wishes to Steve Kauffman, Joy Bergschneider and Kevin Pile who have birthdays this week. After the postlude today, we would like to invite everyone to gather in front of the camera to wish Dorothy Zinkand a happy birthday, Dorothy turned 100 yesterday.
