Announcements December 3, 2017
A: Praise to the Lord, who is able to deliver. C: We could walk through fire with God at our side.
Welcome to Advent and the first Sunday of the church year. A special welcome to any guests visiting with us today We prayed you would come and hope you will allow us to further greet you after worship.

*Today begins the church year season of Advent, a time to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ. When you arrived, you recieved Haven’s Devotional booklet for December. We also have daily Advent devotionals in the narthex. Please use these meaningful materials to keep the Lord in your heart during this month that can get so very frantic. Feel free to take additional copies to bless a friend, coworker or family member, too.

*You may have already encountered the Teen bake sale in the lobby but did you see the wonderful birdhouses they are selling to help raise money for their trip to Youthquake? Each birdhouse is hand built and decorated by the Youth team. Be sure to take a look at the birdhouses in the parlor after church to place an order and visit the bake sale table. Of course, free will offerings toward the Youth Fund are also appreciated. Support our youth!

*Tomorrow, Monday, December 4, between 6 and 8 pm we will decorate the church and parlor for the Christmas concert and season. PLEASE come and help. Decorations, directions and even supper will be provided. Sign up on the attendance form or at Sign-Up Central OR just show up!. Lots of hands make the work easier…. AND a lot more fun.

*Today is the final day to order poinsettias for Christmas. Order envelopes are in the lobby.

*Haven has adopted 8 children for Christmas. The Department of Social Services has told us that these children are among those with greatest need. Please take one or more gift tags from the Giving Tree in the narthex and bring the wrapped gifts back by December 17th with the gift tag attached. Just think of the joy we can bring to these children this Christmas. Pick up a gift tag today!

*Today’s altar flowers are placed to the glory of God in memory of Ed Cunningham by Marge Cunningham.

This week’s concerns and joys:
*Thanks to the Parish Life Team and to all who presented and attended the Holidays Done Easy, a TGIF event held last Friday. It was helpful, interesting and tasty!

*Thanks to all who stepped up to host a December coffee hour.

*Best wishes to Lauren Harden, JoAnn Shankle Otelia Dumpe, Dorothy Zinkard and Stephen Kauffman who celebrate birthdays this week.
