Sermon – February 18, 2018 – RaisingLazarus

Announcements February 18, 2018

A: Teach me your way, O Lord C: that I may walk in your truth

*God’s blessings to all this First Sunday of Lent and a “special welcome to any guests visiting with us today We are blessed by your presence and pray you are blessed as we worship together.

* Today we begin gathering food for our Easter Food Baskets. Check out the tree in the narthex and take a tag or two with needed items printed on them. We’ll keep adding tags each week until we have the needed supplies. Thank you.

*We are hoping for a good Haven Lutheran representation at this Tuesday’s Lutheran -Catholic worship service, at 7 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Please make every effort to come to worship our Lord and give witness to Christian unity.

*Haven’s Annual Meeting and Meal is next Sunday, February 25th immediately after worship. If you haven’t yet, please let us know you are coming on the attendance form today. At the Sign-up Central board there are still a few tags left with side dishes needed for the feast. Copies of Haven’s Annual Report are available in the narthex today.

*EASTER FLOWER ALERT! EASTER FLOWER ALERT! All orders for lilies, hyacinths or tulips for Easter Sunday must be in by NEXT SUNDAY, February 25. Order envelopes are in the narthex.

*We need just two more pots of soup for the March 21st Lenten midweek supper. If you could provide a pot of soup for that day, please mark that on your attendance form.

*One note for today’s worship. On page 6 of your bulletin (pause to allow people to get there) the entire congregation will sing “Take O Take Me As I Am” ALL three times.

* Please listen carefully to an important WORSHIP for NEXT Sunday. Next Sunday we will read the story of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. In place of the sermon, the congregation will have the opportunity to have their feet washed by the Pastor or other ministers. It is a very tender experience of the servant love Jesus showed his disciples. We mention this today, so those who would like to participate will know to wear easy to slip on shoes and women would not wear panty hose. Help to pass on the word to other members or guest who are not here today so they can be prepared, too.

This week’s concerns and joys:
*Special thanks to members of the Altar Guild and others who helped prepare the sanctuary for Lent.

*Best wishes to Shaun Rollins, Dick Hess, Maggie Manspeaker and Marissa Freeman who celebrate birthdays this week.

(after the announcements)

A: Now let us prepare to worship the Lord, who walks with us this Lent and always.
