Announcements February 11, 2018
A: Arise, shine; for your light has come, C:And the glory of the LORD has risen upon us.
God’s light be with you . A special welcome to guests visiting with us today. We prayed you would come and hope you will let us greet you further after worship.

*The season of Lent begins this Wednesday, February 14th. Lent is the church season when we make a special effort to step out of the normal and the darkness and step into God’s presence and light. Here are some ways to get ready to “embrace the Light” of Christ this Lent:
● There will be services at 12 noon and 7 p.m. this Ash Wednesday to begin our Lenten
journey. Please make plans to attend.
● We have three Lenten devotionals available for adults in the narthex. Be sure to pick one up as you leave. Just a few minutes each day can make a great difference in your spirt.
● Finally, be sure to read your February newsletter to learn more about other ways to step into God’s light this Lent. Copies of the newsletter are also in the narthex

*Today in the adult Sunday School class, we will conclude a two part series entitled New and Renewing Disciples at Haven. This week we will talk about Baptism, Holy Communion, our order of Worship and a bit of Haven’s history. All are welcomed and your questions, too.

*The Lutheran and Catholic communities of Hagerstown will hold a joint worship service at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on February 20th at 7 p.m. to celebrate last year’s anniversary of the Reformation and our unity around the gospel. There will be a joint choir and our Delaware-Maryland Synod Bishop, William Gohl and the Baltimore Archdiocese Associate Bishop Denis Madden will offer reflections during this Lenten service. Please make plans to come worship our Lord and to proclaim our unity in Christ.

*It’s time for Haven’s Annual Meeting and Meal on February 25th immediately after worship. Food, fellowship, fun and a little bit of business make for a good time. Please sign up to attend on the attendance form so the Parish Life team can order enough of our main entree. Go to Sign-up Central to select a tag for the item you can bring to the feast.

*Haven Game Time is next Sunday, 2 pm. Come play Mexican Train Dominoes. Don’t know how? We’ll gladly teach you. Bring a snack to share. Beverages and relaxing fun provided.

*2017 Giving Statements are in the church narthex in alphabetical order. Pick yours up today!

This week’s concerns and joys:
*The good news is Haven member Irene Giffin has moved back to Hagerstown. The bad news is she slipped and has several fractures in her ankle and knee. Currently Irene is at Meritus Hospital waiting for a spot at a local rehab center. She enjoys visit and appreciates your prayers.

*We know the Eagles won the Super Bowl and Haven’s soup pot collection correctly predicted it. We also know 14 kids at Fountaindale Elementary School were winners! You gave $321.60 to help buy weekend food for Micah’s Backpacks. Thank you for your support!

*Best wishes to Robert Snyder, Drew Pensis, and Meghan Byers who celebrate birthdays this week. Congratulations to Terry and Carol Trovinger celebrating an wedding anniversary on Wednesday.
