Announcements      January 12, 2020

A: Arise, shine; for your light has come,

C: And the glory of the LORD has risen upon us. (Isaiah 60:1)

God’s peace to all this Epiphany Season. A special welcome to all guests visiting with us today. Your presence is truly a blessing.

*Let’s start the morning with good news from our Treasurers: “Congratulations to Haven Staff, Church Council members and members of Haven’s congregation for the excellent effort of making 2019 a banner year for Haven’s financials. The Church Offering finished the year on target, just 0.4% or $783.98 behind projections. With this year not having noteworthy expenditures and the church staff and teams being as thrifty as ever, Haven’s financials benefitted. Let’s carry this faith-filled generosity into 2020.

*Well, let’s celebrate a little more. Right before Christmas, Pastor Alessandri took all the coins and money in our Hunger Milk can to our branch of Middletown Bank, who generously used their equipment to count it — at NO cost to us. Do you know what the total was? Get ready.

It totaled $988.12. This will be divided between Micah’s Backpacks, St. Mark’s Food Bank and the ELCA World Hunger. Keep collecting those coins. Together it can make a difference.

*Today, Cindy Rhodes will be leading our youngster Sunday School class into the life of Jesus. Pastor Kaplan invites us to the Adult Sunday School Class to venture through some rather unusual stories about the childhood of Jesus. Start the New Year digging into the wealth of God’s Word.

*Team leaders, your annual report article is due in the office TODAY. Please drop it off or send it via email. More information is in the bulletin.

Haven will be providing lunch for at Potomac Towers on January 30th. This is usually the main meal of the day for some 35 residents. We need food donations and folks to serve the meal. Please check out the Potomac Towers sign-up page on the SIGN-UP CENTRAL bulletin board. Together we can provide a good lunch for some of our Hagerstown brothers and sisters.

This week’s concerns and joys

*We thank Kelly Bracken and Linda Clark for stepping in to cover the office phones at the last minutes last Monday. Our secretary was back in the office on Tuesday and feels better each day.

*Best wishes to Sue Britton, Bruce Larson, Ned Strange, Hannah Tice, Dick Manspeaker and Frank Getz who celebrate birthdays this week.
