January 19, 2020 Sermon – Epiphany

A: Arise, shine; for your light has come,

C: And the glory of the LORD has risen upon us. (Isaiah 60:1)

God’s peace to all this Epiphany Season. A special welcome to all guests visiting with us today. Your presence is truly a blessing.

*Haven will be providing lunch for at Potomac Towers on January 30th. This is usually the main meal of the day for some 35 residents. We need food donations and folks to serve the meal. Please check out the Potomac Towers sign-up page on the SIGN-UP CENTRAL bulletin board. Together we can provide a good lunch for some of our Hagerstown brothers and sisters.

*Since some folks hesitant to come out in the dark evening hours of winter, Parish Life is combining Ladies Night Out and the Haven Lunch Bunch groups for the months of January and February. The January gathering is THIS TUESDAY Jan. 21, 12 noon at the Warehouse Taproom (1130 Conrad Ct.) Come share some good food and fellowship.  A sign-up sheet is at the Sign-up Central bulletin board. Friends are welcome!

*The first gathering of “Haven After Hours” will be Friday Feb. 7, 6:30 pm at the home of Susie & Dave Resh.  Come enjoy this evening fellowship and get to know some more of your Haven family. All will enjoy good food, conversation and fun.  Sign-up to come at SIGN-UP CENTRAL and indicate if you will bring either an appetizer or a dessert to share. More information can be found in your bulletin.

*Today, Cindy Rhodes will be leading our youngster Sunday School class into the life of Jesus. Grant Wills will lead the Adult Sunday School Class through an unusual account of Jesus’ childhood. Start the New Year digging into the wealth of God’s Word.

*The church office will be closed tomorrow, January 20th for the observance of Martin Luther King Day.

*Haven Congregational Council members are reminded that its monthly meeting has been moved to NEXT Monday, January 27th.

This week’s concerns and joys

*Sandy Myers is at the Washington Hospital in DC awaiting surgery on a blood clot found in her leg. Please keep Sandy, Ken and family in prayer.

*Best wishes to Abigail Andrews and Rebecca Mason who celebrate birthdays this week. Congratulations to Eric and Patty Byers who have a wedding anniversary this Friday.
