Announcements ~ July 14/15, 2018

A:This is the message we have heard and proclaim to you
C: That God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5))

*Blessings to all as we gather to worship. A special welcome to all guests visiting with us. Your presence is a blessing.

*You may have noticed that the cross at the Gathering Room entrance has been taken down. The bottom of the cross had been greatly damaged by rot and insects, weakening its stability. There was a worry that it could fall and hurt someone. But fear not, there are plans in the works for replacing the cross and finding a possible use for the old cross’s wood. Stay tune for future developments.

*Tomorrow, between 10 am and 12 noon, we continue a weekly sorting Soiree to purge our closets of boxes and to gather important documents and historical mementoes. We made a great deal of headway last week. Most work can be done seated at a table in the Gathering Room. Come when you can — we’re finding some interesting stuff.

*There will be no more Wednesday Lectionary Explorations this month. Last week’s group was able to discern a theme and pattern of readings to follow this September and October. Mission accomplished! Thank you to all who attended.

*In the newsletter and today’s bulletin you can read about an invitation to be part of a book discussion group in August. Consider coming along as we read Canoeing the Mountains. Check off the meeting times you prefer on your attendance form.

*The Parish Life Team is sponsoring an Evening of Wine and Music at Red Heifer Winery on Sunday, August 5th. More information in your bulletin on page 8.

*Council Members are reminded to check their church mailboxes and read reports before coming to the Council Meeting Monday evening. Thank you for your service.

This week’s concerns and joys:
* Many thanks to all who lent us air mattresses for our Mission Trip guests last Saturday. You can pick yours up in the narthex. Thanks to Bill Byers who got the mattresses inflated and sorted. Thanks to Joyce Meredith, Clare Newcomer, Millie Strange and Marge Cunningham for contributing food for their supper; Jamie and Jim Cannon who helped prepare, serve and clean up supper; Dave & Susie Resh and Kim Pile who prepared, served and cleaned up breakfast. Haven Hospitality shines!

*Best wishes to June Hess, Grant Wills, and Irene Giffin who celebrate birthdays this week.

A: Rejoicing in God’s saving grace, we seek our Lord’s wisdom and strength:
C: “To honor God, to reach out with love to our members
and the community and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
