July 21, 2019 Sermon

Announcements ~ July 20 & 21, 2019

a: Give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good,

C:  For God’s mercy endures forever.                      (Psalm 107: 1)

*God’s blessings to all and a special welcome to all guests visiting with us today. What a joy it is to be in God’s presence and worship together

*The school supplies are coming in for August 17th Giveaway.  Please visit the bulletin board in the church lobby as you leave. Pick up some slips with needed items.

This week we add the opportunity to gather all the supplies for one student in particular grade. We give these “complete backpacks” as door prizes at the Block Party and School Supply Giveaway. Some families stay the entire three hours in hopes of winning one of these complete backpacks. Those slips are also at the Block Party bulletin board. You won’t have to look far to find good sales on school supplies.

*We will need lots of volunteers for the Block Party and School Supply Giveaway that runs from 10 am to 1 pm on August 17th. PLEASE sign up on the attendance form today. Tell us how long you can stay. Let us know if you can help set-up or clean up that Saturday. It truly is Our Hands doing God’s Work AND it is both meaningful and fun!

*Through July, we will continue to collect cereal for the St. Mark’s Food Bank. The food pantry’s stock is very low so all contributions are greatly appreciated.

Come this Thursday at 2 p.m. to learn about PLARNING — a hands-on-project to make plastic sleeping maps for the homeless out of regular plastic grocery bags. Pastor Stephanie Steele and Pam O’Connor will show us how. No experience or expertise needed. There are a variety of easy steps that suit all abilities. Come to the Gathering Room to enjoy the fellowship and see what plarning for the homeless is all about.

*There is a Block Party & School Giveaway Planning Meeting this Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the air-conditioned Gathering Room. We hope those who were there before will come back and others who are interested with come, too. Door prizes for the fun of it.

*The July & August newsletter is available in the narthex.

*The church office will be closed this Wednesday through Friday. The building will be open but the office administrator and pastor will be busy purging and organizing their offices. We will check voice mail several times a day for emergencies. An organized office makes a happier staff. At least that is what we hope!

This week’s concerns and joys:

*Best wishes to Veronica Bergschneider, Mary Fortson, and Austin Suchy who celebrate birthdays this week.
