Announcements ~ July 28, 2019

a: Give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good,   C:  For God’s mercy endures forever.

*God’s blessings to all and a special welcome to all guests visiting with us today. What a joy it is to be in God’s presence and worship together

*Three weeks to our Block Party and School Supply Giveaway on August 17th, 10 am – 1 pm. We need all disciples at Haven to make this community outreach happen. Here are some ways you can get involved in doing God’s Work with Your Hands.

  • Volunteer to be here on August 17th. You can help set-up, clean-up or staff the games, concessions and School Supply Giveaway. There are a variety of tasks for a variety of abilities and mobility. Sign up on your attendance form or speak with Marge Cunningham.
  • Visit the bulletin board in the church lobby as you leave. Take some slips for the needed school supply items or take the challenge of getting all the supplies for one student in particular grade. You won’t have to look far to find good sales on school supplies.
  • As mentioned in the newsletter, we also need prizes for the adults who love to play Bingo. Five dollar gift cards from fast food restaurants or new, unused, re-gifted items would be great.
  • The Block Party & School Giveaway Planning Meeting postponed from last week will take place this Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the air-conditioned Gathering Room. All are welcome to come and catch some of the excitement .
  • Finally, please pray for the Block Party and School Supply Giveaway, that the weather is good, fun is abounding and the grace of God’s church at Haven is overflowing.

*St. Mark’s Food Banks sent word that the cereal we collected so far in July was greatly needed and much appreciated. In August, we will collecting large jars of grape or strawberry jelly. I bet some peanut butter would be helpful, too. Thanks for your contributions.

*We have one addition for today’s bulletin. The Offertory today will be played by Abigail Andrews. We hope she will accept our apologies for the slip. We are blessed whenever you share your talents with us, Abigail.

This week’s concerns and joys:

*June Hess was taken to Meritus Hospital Saturday morning. The last word was that she was receiving treatment for vertigo and dehydration. Please keep June, Dick and their family in prayer.

*The initial PLARNING gathering last Thursday was well attended! Such a simple way to provide waterproof mats for the homeless who are sleeping outside. Look for information about the next meeting in your bulletin or newsletter. Speak to Pam O’Connor to learn more.
*Thank you for your patience as the office administrator and pastor worked on organizing and purging their offices last week. You won’t believe the amount of recycling and trash that left the building so far. While the office will reopen on Monday, we are still working to complete the project. Hopeful, we will soon be proud to show off the results.

*Best wishes to Georgie Kauffman, Adam Tice, Korben Defriece, and Pat Manspeaker who celebrate birthdays this week. Congratulations to Bill and Lynda Byers who will celebrate a wedding anniversary on Thursday.
