June 18, 2021

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY, 9:30 AM  On-line and in person.

JUST TWO-SUNDAYS MORE PATIENCE At the in-person worship service, we are still asking you to wear masks. Yes, I hear some of you saying “Boo! Hisssss! Masks be gone!” We ask for your patience for this Sunday and next. then on July 4th, the mask requirement will be abolished, as long as the state and CDC guidelines remain as they are.
THANK YOU for your patience. We are hoping the gradual removal of protections we have had to follow for so long will provide some extra transition time for those who are hesitant to move back into the flow of public gatherings. BUT REMEMBER — even now, singing, congregational responses and smiles are strongly encouraged!

THIS WEEK’S PRELUDE WILL BE ON THE ORGAN now liberated from its protective plastic. Variations on “Eternal Father, Strong to Save.”

FOR OUR VACCINATED MEMBERS STILL HESITANT TO COME TO WORSHIP, may I offer several encouragements:

— A majority (possibly all but the children) have been fully vaccinated.

— Our new air conditioning system has an air purifying system, similar to what is being
used in airplanes and new offices.

— On June 17 we had all the upholstery in the church, the upholstery and carpet in the
parlor and the concrete floors in the narthex and entries professionally cleaned
— You still have the option of practicing social distancing using the chairs in the narthex
with a good view of the altar and musicians.

— We are still requiring masks to be worn this Sunday and June 27. Starting on July 4,

Masks will become optional for those who are vaccinated.
— Finally, but not least of reasons to come back to in-person worship, we miss you and
you miss us
(come on, admit it J) Jesus called disciples into a mutually supportive,
interactive, faith-building community. Together we are better.

I know there might still be reasons to still watch worship from your home — lack of transportation, mobility difficulties or illness. So, I’m very glad we discovered how to livestream worship to make it possible for us to worship together as a God’s church, Haven Lutheran community. Together we are better.

WE ARE ANTICIPATING THE STEEPLE

TO BE RETURNED THE LAST WEEK OF JUNE!

When we get a date for the steeple’s installation, we will send out an email.

If the weather cooperates, how about a “Steeple Place” party on the parking lot?

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL SESSION ENTITLED “THRIVING BEYOND COVID:
LET GOD, TRUST GOD, RISE UP.”

Led by Pastor Linda Alessandri

It is a 3 or 4 session scripture based study resource designed to help churches release the burdens of the pandemic, promote deeper faith in the Spirit’s power at work in their midst, and empower their mission going forward.

The first session will be on Sunday, July 11th, 10:45 am in the Gathering Room. After the session, everyone is invited to go to lunch at Cafe Italia for more fellowship. (Usually it is the first Sunday of the month, but the first Sunday in July will be the 4th of July holiday.)

P.S. If you can’t make all the sessions, you will still be able to follow and fully participate in the sessions you can attend. Whether 1, 2, 3 or all sessions — try it!
