June 23, 2018 – Sermon & Announcements

June 23, 2018 Sermon

June 22 & 23, 2018

A: I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
C: I will sing praise to my God while I have being. (Psalm 104: 33)

*Blessings to all and a special welcome to guests visiting with us today.

*Vacation Bible School is HERE! Tomorrow we begin a week of gospel outreach to our children and their families.
1) If you signed up to bring food items, please put them in the kitchen. Thank you.
2) We still need several people to help in the kitchen on Monday. If you can help please let Dawn Freeman (or me) know today.
3) Finally, continue to pray for Haven’s VBS — for the children and families who come; that the weather is kind; that we have enough of what is needed and most of all, that God’s love and grace overflows all week.

*A St. Louis group of teens and adults will be staying overnight here at Haven on Saturday, July 7th before they continue to Washington DC for a week-long Mission Trip. They will join us for worship on July 8th.
To help them be comfortable for their stay here, we need to borrow some air mattresses for them to sleep on. If you can lend us an air mattress of any size, please bring it in next Sunday. If you have an electric air pump we could borrow to help fill the mattresses, we would be grateful to borrow that, too.
This Mission trip group is coming from Atonement Lutheran Church in Florissant Missouri where Pastor Alessandri served before coming here. Thank you for helping us to welcome them.

*Our church secretary will be away all next week on a much deserved family vacation. The office will be staffed by Haven volunteers. Be kind and patient if you need to contact the office. Pray that Mary’s family have a fun and refreshing vacation and safe homecoming.

*Copies of the July & August newsletter are in the narthex. Pick up your copy today.

This week’s concerns and joys:
*We are sad to report the death of Haven member, Ed Bentz. His funeral was on Friday. Please keep his family in prayer.

*Best wishes to Max Schupp, Joe Webb, Sharon Sellers, Patricia Byers and Don Blickenstaff Jr. who celebrate birthdays this week.

(after the announcements)
A: Rejoicing in God’s saving grace, we seek our Lord’s wisdom and strength:
C: “To honor God, to reach out with love to our members
and the community and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
