SET YOUR ALARMS EARLIER THIS SUNDAY  This week it’s not about Daylight Savings Time. It’s about getting to Haven by 9. A.M. to hear the Hagerstown Sunday School Orchestra in the Gathering Room.  You will hear talented musicians play wonderful musical selections under a great conductor. Come be inspired and be ready to have your day blessed.

The Sunday School Orchestra had it’s beginning as the Trinity Lutheran Sunday School Orchestra back in the early 1900’s. It played every Sunday, September through June at the beginning of the Sunday School Hour, as all the adult classes assembled for a brief worship service before breaking into their individual classes. Dr. Peter Buys, long time conductor of the Hagerstown Municipal Band, was one of the Orchestra’s first conductors.
Over the course of many years, schedules changed, and the ensemble became the Sunday School Orchestra or SSO, as it started to play once a month at 3 local churches. Today, the SSO is made up of talented local musicians with various backgrounds, who enjoy performing music as part of a Music Ministry, reaching the Hagerstown Community.

HAVEN DONATIONS FOR UKRAINE RELIEF  As of March 13, Haven has collected $2,517 for the Lutheran Disaster Relief efforts for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Due to the generosity of several midwestern Lutheran churches, those monies will be matched, doubling Haven’s donation.

The deadline for the matching monies was extended until Easter. If you wish to donate to the Lutheran Disaster Relief efforts in Ukraine, you can still do so through Haven. Please make any checks out to Haven Lutheran Church and put Ukraine Relief on the memo line. You can also make donations directly to Lutheran Disaster Relief
