IT’S TRINITY SUNDAY THIS WEEKEND
AND WORSHIP WILL STILL BE IN THE GATHERING ROOM!

On May 30, Haven’s 9:30 am in-person Worship Service will again be in the Gathering Room. Though the temperature is not predicted to be as hot as it was last weekend, the AC and new air filtration system still has to be hooked up and the narthex tidied up.

We will have the rows of chairs 3 feet apart instead of 6 feet, which will allow for more seating. We had to squeeze in more chairs last Sunday — which is always a good problem at church when you need to welcome more folks than anticipated. We will still require that masks be worn but singing and hardy responses are encouraged.

Last Sunday, the room was electric. The sound of our worship was robust, filling the room with a community worshipping together. I hope the folks at home caught that, too. So I’m looking at worship in the Gathering Room these two Sundays as a kind of “welcome home” gift of the Holy Spirit.

See you at worship this Sunday.

RE-OPENING TEAM REVIEW OF COVID GUIDELINES AT HAVEN

Haven’s Re-Opening Team met via ZOOM on Thursday, May 27. After thoughtful discussion, the team recommended a gradual peeling away of restrictions for worship and for those using our building. These are their recommendations:

For the month of June, we will remove the social distance requirements but still require masks to be worn. When we are back in the sanctuary, we will keep chairs in the narthex for those who wish to continue to practice social distance seating. We continue to encourage h frequent use of hand sanitizer in the entryways and in the pews.

The Re-Opening Team and Council will revisit the mask requirement for July.

As far as the other groups meeting at Haven, we will also remove the social distancing restriction. They are still required to wear masks, sanitize the table and chairs they use and keep a list of attendance in the event contact tracing is needed.

We will reopen Haven West to our Al-Anon groups the week of June 6, after the window air conditioner has been reinstalled.
Other groups who had been meeting at Haven pre-COVID, may contact the church to resume their meetings at Haven as long as they agree to follow the guidelines listed above.

We are trying our best to stay on top of the unfolding information about COVID and the prevention of its spread. At the same time, we are trying to honor the varying opinions and apprehensions of people in our congregation. Our goal is to provide the assurance and safety needed for folks to feel they can safely come to church for worship and other events. We will continue to monitor the latest information about COVID and the vaccination rates and make any modifications necessary.

So, that is where we are, dear family, friends and guest. Continue to share your thoughts, concerns and suggestions with members of the Re-Opening Team (Doug Wright, Dick Hess, Susan Strobl, Dave Resh, Will Seilhamer, Pastor Alessandri) and the congregational Council. As we have these last fourteen months, together we will make it through these transitional times, too.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!
Savor the difference one year can make.

Still, remember…. Give thanks for those who sacrificed their wellbeing and lives for our safety and protection.

Ruler of the nations, our strength, our shield, and our sustainer, we thank you for the devotion of all people who have committed themselves to military service for their country. We pray for those who did not return home, for those who did return home, and for those who are now away from home. On behalf of their fellow citizens, they stepped into harm’s way, gave up time with those they love, and carried the weight of respect and duty. For their lives, we give you thanks. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of all nations, through the prophet Isaiah you proclaimed a day when people will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war any more. We pray for that day. We pray for your peace in all places and for all people. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

JUNE NEWSLETTER IS GOING OUT THIS WEEKEND
This is the third month in a row that we have gotten the newsletter out before the end of the month. (Hope I haven’t jinxed us.) Be sure to check out the June newsletter for news of upcoming events and GREAT pictures of the God Squad Explorers to came to the Drive-Thru celebration last Sunday. We didn’t have room this month for “Because We Need to Laugh” pictures, so I’m including them in this note.
