Haven Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Maryland

December 2, 2022

WELCOME TO ADVENT  If you did not pick up an “Advent-ure Kit” last Sunday, you can pick one up on Sunday in the church narthex. The bags have a bookmark with our weekly Advent themes and an Advent Prayer Cube. You then add one from the selection of Advent devotionals on the same table. God’s blessing on our Advent preparations.

UPDATED BIRTHDAY & ANNIVERSARY LISTS FOR DECEMBER AND JANUARY  Our computer program was having a bad day and did not list all those who have birthdays during December and January. Please check Haven’s website for an updated list. The newsletters currently in the church narthex and those that were mailed do have the revised lists.

COOKIE EXCHANGE AND DEMONSTRATION
BY DENNY WARRENFELTZ

Tuesday, December 13
 at 7 pm.

Come celebrate the upcoming holidays by joining us for a cookie exchange as well as being treated to a demonstration of the construction of his signature boxwood Christmas tree by Denny Warrenfeltz. Denny has been a floral designer for over 40 years and is the owner of Rooster Vane Gardens in Funkstown. His work is amazing. He has taught floral design at HCC for many years and provided demonstrations of floral design at garden clubs, local museums and more. To add to the fun, there will be a raffle for his tree at the end of the evening.

Please bring 4 dozen cookies to share and a container to take home your assorted cookies from the exchange. The event will be on Tuesday, December 13 at 7 pm. Please sign up for the event on the sheet in the Narthex and contact Susan Strobl 301-797-1129 for any questions.

CHRISTMAS FOOD BASKETS

We will give food baskets at Christmas and in doing so, we share God’s love and concern for others. The Christmas tree and tags are up. Please take a tag (or more). Food and money will be collected thru Sunday, December 18th. This year, we will sponsor several families from Fountaindale Elementary School.

Please look for the *Christmas Food Basket donations sign for where to place your items in the narthex. (There is a separate box for Blessing Box donations.) The Hunger Team thanks the congregation for their donations and helping families in need during this Christmas season. We also ask the congregation to pray for the families receiving the baskets and give thanks for the staff at Fountaindale who enable us to carry out this project.
