Announcements November 11, 2018

A: The LORD is my strength and my shield;

C: in God my heart trusts.

God’s peace to all on this this Sunday. A special welcome to all guests visiting with us today. Your presence is truly a blessing.

*Only two more weeks to gather the food for our Christmas food baskets. There are only a few tags left on our giving tree. Please take one, buy the items & bring them back to Haven. Your generosity will provide food for a Micah’s Backpack family during the Christmas school break.

*Please be sure to check the Sign-up Central bulletin board today for the many upcoming opportunities, including a Thanksgiving Supper and a new Christmas Cards, Carols and Community event. We also need help packing Micah’s Backpacks, which would only take you 10-15 minutes. More information about all of these is in your bulletin.

*What does the Bible say about Heaven and Hell? The Adult Sunday School class will look at that very topic for the next two weeks. The adult Sunday School class will begin a bit later than usual today, at 11:20 am, to allow more time for today’s Veterans Day festivities.

*Today IS Veterans Day and Haven is honoring its veterans with a special prayer, display, coffee hour and booklet. We would like to offer a huge “thanks” to Craig Meredith for leading the Evangelism Team and Haven veterans in this day of remembrance and gratitude.

*Today is also the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I. At 11 am — the time the armistice was signed — Haven and other churches throughout the country will toll their bells in gratitude for those who fought in that war and as a pray for peace throughout the world.

This week’s concerns and joys:

*Thank you to all who attended last week’s special Finance Team presentation. We are grateful to Mike Manspeaker, who presented the facts and led the discussion with great clarity and heart. Thanks also to Valerie and Grant Wills for organizing the coffee fellowship refreshments. There is a summary of that meeting in your bulletin today.

*Haven’s night at the REACH cold weather shelter went very well. Thank you to Dave Resh for coordinating and to the many others who contributed food and volunteered. Your efforts were certainly appreciated by the shelter residents.

*Best wishes to Diana Staley, Morgan Faith and Elaine Michael who celebrate birthdays this week.

A: We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, here and in the heavens.

C:  The Lord’s name be praised. Alleluia
