November 25, 2018 – Christ the King Sunday – Sermon & Announcements

November 25, 2018 Sermon – Christ the King Sunday (Seminarian Kelly McDonnell)

Announcements – November 25, 2018

A: The LORD is my strength and my shield; C: in God my heart trusts.

God’s peace to all on this this Christ the King Sunday. A special welcome to all guests visiting with us today. Your presence is truly a blessing.

*There is no one signed up to host coffee fellowship today or next week or December 16, 23rd or 30th.  How can we let our children go to Sunday School without a snack??  We need you… you and a friend… you and your family…. Or several families together to sponsor a week of this important fellowship gathering. Remember, it can be simple and coffee, juice and paper products are provided by the church. Please sign-up today to host an upcoming coffee fellowship at the Sign-up Central bulletin board.

*If you have not brought in your donated food for the Christmas baskets, please do so this week. We are very close to having all we need. Thank you.

*The deadline for ordering poinsettias is next Sunday, December 2nd. Order envelopes are in the church lobby.

*Pick up a copy of the December/January newsletter in the church narthex today.

*One worship note – The Hymn of the Day, after the sermon, will be #430 NOT #416 as printed in your bulletin. Again, the hymn listed on page 6 of your bulletin has been changed to #430, “Rejoice for Christ Is King.”

This week’s concerns and joys:

* Mike Mason, husband of Amy Mason, had triple bypass surgery on Wednesday at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. All went well and he hopes to be released soon to continue his recovery at home.

Sandy Myers had surgery on Thursday at Meritus Hospital to release blood that had built up around her brain. Sandy is also doing well and getting feisty about going home.

Please keep Mike, Sandy and their families in your prayers.

*Thanks to all who attended the annual meeting last Sunday after worship. Haven’s 2019 Financial Plan for Ministry was passed unanimously. Now we look to meet the challenge of providing the needed offering to make that plan possible. With God, all things are possible.

*Many Thanks to Jamie and Jim Cannon and Marge Cunningham for a wonderful Christmas Cards, Carols and Community event yesterday. Despite the dreary weather, it was warm and welcoming here at Haven. Adults got some Christmas cards ready, the kids got messy with some craft projects and everyone enjoyed delicious snacks. It was a great way to move toward the Advent season.

*Best wishes to Danny Kiblinger, Ann Conrad, Owen Schupp, Jack Dickinson and Joan Schupp who celebrate birthdays this week.

A:   We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, here and in the heavens.

C:  The Lord’s name be praised. Alleluia
