Sermon November 6, 2022 – All Saints Sunday

Announcements ~ November 6, 2022

A:    The LORD is my strength and my shield;
C:    in God my heart trusts.                          (Psalm 28:7a)
God’s blessings and peace to you this All Saints Sunday. A special welcome to guests
visiting with us, in person or on-line. How wonderful it is to worship together.
*Today, on All Saints Sunday, there is a candle on the altar for each of the loved ones who
died since last All Saints Day whose names are in the bulletin. We will also remember them
each by name several times during worship as we thank God for each of their lives and the
love we still share with them.
*One of our saints, Martin Luther is in the lobby. Get a picture with him and send it to a
Lutheran friend.
*God Squad Explorers will meet at their Adventure campsite AND our Adult Sunday School
class will meet in their room today at 11 am. Come explore God’s Word and love.
*After a long COVID break, Haven’s LUNCH BUNCH is back! It’s a time to fellowship
over lunch. This month it will be on November 8 th at Hoffman’s All-American Grill. See
details in the bulletin and sign up at SIGN-UP Central.
*It’s time for Haven’s Fall Clean-up! Starting at 9 am for the next two Saturdays, we need
your help for some inside and some outside work. Any amount of time or help is needed and
appreciated. Come glorify our Lord as we care for God’s church here at Haven.
*Pastor Alessandri will be leaving this afternoon for vacation in Maine. She will be back in
the office on November 16. For pastoral care in her absence, please call Pastor Ron Schlak,
the interim pastor at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. His phone number is in your bulletin and in
November’s newsletter.
This week’s concerns and joys:
*Melita Kaplan did not have surgery on her broken ankle last week. Hopefully it will happen
this week. Please send any cards for Melita to Pastor Dave’s address, posted on the mobile
message board. Keep Melita and her dad, Pastor Kaplan in prayers.
*Despite the rain, we had 17 Haven members show up for Haven’s Trunk or Treat last
Monday. Thanks for those who brought the canopies and all who brought candy and great
smiles. We had a good time of fellowship and outreach.
*Many thanks to our funeral reception team and anyone who helped them to provide
refreshments after the memorial services for Beth Johns and Dot Zinkand. What a ministry
you provided for families and friends of Beth and Dot on Haven’s behalf!!
*Best wishes to Eric Meredith, Julie Faith and Kathy Yaraghi who have birthdays this week.
A:    We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, here and in the heavens.
C:    The Lord’s name be praised. Alleluia.
