Palm Sunday Sermon & Announcement

March 14, 2019 Sermon – Palm & Passion Sunday

Announcements ~ April 14, 2019

A:       Teach me your way, O Lord. C:      that I may walk in your truth.

* God’s blessings to all this Palm and Passion Sunday. A special welcome to any guests visiting with us today. We prayed you would come and hope you are blessed as we worship together.

*Today begins Holy Week, with special opportunities for prayer and worship.

1) On Wednesday, Haven will have a 12 hour Prayer Vigil in the church. The hope is to have at least one person in the church lifting up prayers each of those 12 hours. So far, we have one person in the sanctuary 6 of the 12 hours. Can we get those other six hours covered? Read more about the Vigil in the bulletin. Sign up at Sign-up Central. In the busyness of life, you will find an hour in God’s presence a true gift.

2) We are also looking for more prayer requests for the Wednesday Prayer Vigil. Please fill out as many prayer request cards as you wish. Extra cards and boxes for completed cards are in on the two large tables in the lobby.

3) Please sign up on the attendance form if you will attend Maundy Thursday’s Agape Feast at 5:30 pm. It is a very meaningful way to remember the Last Supper and gift thanks for the Lord’s gift of his life.

See the bulletin for a list of all the worship opportunities this Holy Week. And, by the way, Easter Sunday is a perfect time to invite family and friends to come to church with you.

*All the tags were gone from the giving tree and the piles of donated food is tremendous. The Easter Food Baskets will be packed this Wednesday, April 17th, starting at 8 am. On behalf of the Fountaindale families who will receive our Food Baskets, thank you!

*Pick up your copy of the April newsletter in the church lobby. There is a great deal going on this coming month and you don’t want to miss opportunities for service OR fun.

*TODAY is the deadline to sign-up for our Easter potluck supper here at Haven, next Sunday at 5:30 pm. All who may not have nearby family and would like to come are welcome! If you have no nearby family and would like to come, please sign-up at Sign-Up Central TODAY so we can make plans or cancel them. More information is in today’s bulletin.

*We are looking for two Haven members to be our delegates at the 2019 DE-MD Synod Assembly May 30-June 1. It is a wonderful opportunity for good worship and to hear what is going on in other Lutheran churches and our synod. More information in the bulletin. If interested, sign-up on the attendance form insert.

*Council members are reminded to check their mailboxes for reports they should review before tomorrow evening’s meeting.

This week’s concerns and joys:

*Yesterday, a wonderful crew of folks showed up for our Pastor Phil Fogarty Memorial Clean-up Day. The sanctuary, lobby and parlor were cleaned and polished. The garden beds weeded and trees trimmed. THANK YOU to all who came this week and last to help care for the church God has entrusted to us.

*Pam O’Connor is now home from her time at Coffman but difficulties still persist. Cards, visits and prayers are appreciated!

*Best wishes to Jessica Snyder and Sue Resh who celebrate birthdays this week.

A:You are my refuge and my fortress.        C: You are my God in whom I trust.
