Sermon September 11, 2022

September 11, 2022

A:        Hallelujah! Give praise, you servants of the Lord;  praise the name of the Lord.

C:       Let the name of the Lord be blessed, from this time forth forevermore.

God’s blessings be with you this day that the Lord has made.  A special welcome to our guests visiting with us, in person or on-line. How wonderful to worship together.

*TODAY there will be a special congregational meeting immediately after worship. We hope voting members will stay after worship and those watching at home will join us via ZOOM. We need a quorum of 48 to conduct business. The link for on-line participants is in this week’s bulletin and the September newsletter.

*NEXT Sunday, September 18 we will have outdoor worship and church picnic at Doub’s Woods starting at 10:30 am. Be sure to bring a lawn chair for seating during worship. If you have not done so already, please let us know you are coming by signing up in the narthex or by contacting the church office.  Also, let us know what side dish you will bring to the feast.  This is going to be fun! Family, friends and neighbors are welcome. Remember those lawn chair and bring any lawn games you or your kids would enjoy.

*Haven is putting together a team of volunteers for United Way’s Day of Caring on Thursday, September 15th. Come help us do some painting at the Habitat for Humanity offices. More information in your bulletin. Please let Doug Wright know as soon as possible if you’ll join the team. This is Haven getting out in the community to do God’s work with our hands.

*Those who had pictures taken at the congregational luncheon can see their pictures in the narthex and circle the one you want in the directory. IF you have not had your picture taken or you want to have it taken again, PLEASE sign up at the Sign-up Central board to have it taken on Sunday, September 25, after worship.

*No one has signed up to host a coffee fellowship yet????

*Our God Squad Explorers are asked to follow our pretend rocks to our camp at 11 am today.

This week’s concerns and joys:

*Jim Conrad, husband of Haven member Ann Conrad, died early Wednesday morning. There will be a graveside service at Cedar Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday, September 14th at 1 p.m. Please keep Ann and her family in prayer.

*Many thanks to all who attended last Sunday’s meeting to plan Haven’s lunch at Potomac Towers this month. It was a sweet-spirited and productive session.

*Haven’s administrative Assistant, Mary Grabill, still has a fever and respiratory difficulties due to Covid. Pastor Alessandri will check phone and email messages until she can return.

*Best wishes to Jadyra Fortson who has a birthday and Allison and Tim Keller who have a wedding anniversary this week.

A:        From the rising of the sun to its going down.
C:       let the name of the Lord be praised.                                         (Ps. 113: 1-3)
