September 27, 2020 Sermon (pdf)

Announcements ~ September 27, 2020 (Outdoors)

A:      I was glad when they said to me,
C:      “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”                               (Psalm 122: 1)

*We are very pleased to introduce our new seminarian from United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg — Mia Hoover. (pause to allow Mia to stand and the congregation to applaud.)

You can learn more about Mia in today’s bulletin and in the months ahead. Welcome, Mia, we are very glad to share these upcoming semesters with you.

*It’s not too late to jump into the discussion of Becoming A 21st-Century Church. Copies of the book are still available on the Harvest for Hunger cart. Presentations by the author will continue this Wednesday. Look in your bulletin for more information.

*Haven’s Team will be Bowling for Kids today at 1 p.m. Thanks to your great generosity, we will be donating $475 toward the mentoring mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. There’s still time to make a donation in cash or by a check made out to Big Brothers Big Sisters in the envelope attached to our Harvest for Hunger cart. Marge Cunningham, Susan Strobl, Pastor Alessandri and Big Brothers Big Sisters are immensely grateful to all who contributed.

*Today is our LAST Drive-up and Outdoor Worship Service of the year. Starting next Sunday, October 4th, we will be moving back into our building with ONE services at 9:30 am in the church sanctuary. Masks and social distancing will be required. We are relying on everyone’s patience and help as we take this new step in these challenging times.
One last note — We will also continue to tape and post a worship service to premiere each Sunday at 9:30 am. There will no longer be a Friday 5 pm service.

This week’s concerns and joys:

*We are sad to report the death of homebound member, Barbara Tyler. Please keep her family in your prayers.

*Best wishes to Amy Mason, Jean Carbaugh, Bob Hart, Ken Shankle and Brenda Manspeaker who have birthdays this week.  Congratulations to Ken and JoAnn Shankle and Ray and Elaine Michael who have wedding anniversaries this week.
