Sermon and Announcements ~ March 13, 2022

Sermon March 13, 2022 (Second Sunday of Lent)

Announcements ~ March 13, 2022

A:        Teach me your way, O Lord.     C:     that I may walk in your truth.

*Whoever you are…Where ever you are…you are welcomed to worship this morning at Haven Lutheran Church.

*Set your alarms a little earlier next Sunday so you will be here at 9 AM to hear the Hagerstown Sunday School Orchestra in the Gathering Room. They are so talented and their music will thoroughly prepare you for worship and a wonderful day. So be here at 9 am next Sunday to hear the Hagerstown Sunday School Orchestra.

*We continue our midweek Lenten services at 7 pm on Wednesday, in person and on-line, as we consider God’s Mercy. Copies of Holden Evening Prayer are available in the narthex or parsonage back porch if you will participate on-line.

* We are also adding another opportunity on the Wednesdays of Lent. From 6 pm to 7 pm there will be a place for prayer set up in the parlor. Come when you wish to pray for the Ukraine and other concerns. We invite those participating at home to also set a place and time to pray in that hour. “Let our prayers rise up like incense before you, Lord.”

* The Return of the Prodigal Son Lenten Book and Bible study continues this week with a consideration of the Younger Son. Participants may come to any of the three options: Sundays at 11 am in the Adult Sunday School room; Wednesdays at 10 am in the adult Sunday school room or on Thursdays, at 5 pm via ZOOM, the link is in the bulletin and the March newsletter. Feel free to come to a session to check it out!

* Our congregation is again providing bag lunches for our sisters and brothers at Potomac Towers on Thursday, March 31. This month’s lunches will include chicken salad wraps donated by Free Range Cafe and dessert bags of truffles, offered at a discounted price, from Brooke’s House Coffee and Chocolate.  We ask you to please sign the “Thank You!” cards available in the narthex to express our deep appreciation for their generous support of this ministry.

* Today in your bulletin you will find information about donating to the ELCA Disaster Relief effort to help the people of the Ukraine and those who are providing refuge. The deadline for the matching grant has been extended to Easter. More information in your bulletin.

*It’s back! There is a sign-up sheet for hosting coffee fellowship in the narthex. To err on the side of caution, we do ask that our generous hosts limit the number of items offered AND have persons at the table to serve the food to guests. It will be great to have the opportunity to share refreshments and fellowship after worship once again.

This week’s concerns and joys:

* Best wishes to Cliff Britton, Kristen Schupp, Jan Merique, Valerie Wills and Inez Winebrenner who have birthdays this week.

(after the announcements)
