March 25, 2018 Sermon – Palm and Passion Sunday

March 25, 2018
A: Teach me your way, O Lord.
C: that I may walk in your truth.
* God’s blessings to all this Palm and Passion Sunday. A special welcome to any guests visiting with us today. We prayed you would come and hope you are blessed as we worship together.

*Today begins Holy Week, with special opportunities for prayer and worship.
1) On Wednesday, Haven will have a 12 hour Prayer Vigil in the church. The hope is to have at least one person in the church lifting up prayers each of those 12 hours. So far we have one person in the sanctuary 8 of the 12 hours. Can we get those other four hours covered? Read more about the Vigil in the bulletin. Sign up at Sign-up Central. In the busyness of life, you will find an hour in God’s presence a true gift.

2) We looking for more prayer requests for the Wednesday Prayer Vigil. Please fill out as many cards as you wish. Extra cards and a box for completed cards are in the lobby.

3) Please sign up on the attendance form if you will attend Maundy Thursday’s Agape Feast at 5:30 pm. More information in the bulletin. It is a very meaningful way to remember the Last Supper and gift thanks for the Lord’s gift of his life.
See the bulletin for a list of all the worship services and opportunities this Holy Week.

*In your bulletin you will find an insert about a special even called Supper Church on Friday, April 13. Seminarian Kelly McDonnell will lead us in preparing a meal together and then sharing it and holy communion around the dinner table. Read about it and sign up to come on the slip on the insert. We hope you will come!

*Yesterday, a wonderful crew of folks did a great deal of cleaning the sanctuary, lobby and parlor. Next Saturday, the Property Team asks for your help again to finish refreshing the church property for Easter and Spring. The team will work from 9 am to noon. Even if you can only come for an hour, PLEASE COME. Help us care for Haven — God’s church entrusted to us.

*April newsletters are available in the church lobby today!

This week’s concerns and joys:
*We have many thanks to lift up today:
—-Thank you to all who donated food or money for our Easter Food Baskets. The baskets will be put together and delivered this Wednesday. If you can help, please indicate so on the attendance sheet.
— Thanks again to all who helped clean yesterday. Your efforts are appreciated.
—- Thank you to all who brought in candy and treats for our Easter Egg Hunt. The teen class will be busy today getting those eggs ready! There will literally be hundreds of eggs for children to find Easter morning.

*Susie Resh is home continuing her recovery after a successful heart bypass surgery. She hopes to be here for Easter Sunday worship. Please keep Susie and her family in your prayers.

*Best wishes to Alan Butsch, Charlie Huguenin, John Britton Jr and Bill Clark who celebrate birthdays this week.
(after the announcements)
